HISTORY

A destination with
a story.

Conservation of the area dates to the early 20th century. The area was first associated with a cattle ranch, then became Ngurdoto Crater National Park in 1960; after Mount Meru was annexed, it was renamed Arusha National Park. The park is closely linked to Mount Meru, Tanzania’s second-highest mountain, and offers a compact mix of crater, forest, lake and mountain habitats close to Arusha.
